grouser from Ludlow, United Kingdom

Ain't he a sweetie

6 Jul 2009 10:22am

@grouser: I love 'em. Haven't seen any this summer, though. I wonder if my dog scares them (not intentionally, of course!).

MrsAmber from West Wickham, United Kingdom

So well captured! We have no birds like this round where we live!

6 Jul 2009 10:51am

@MrsAmber: Thanks, Kate. We have them, but they haven't arrived in our yard this summer. This was from my archives, taken a couple of years ago.

john4jack from Corvallis, Oregon, United States

Terrific capture.

6 Jul 2009 2:25pm

@john4jack: Thanks, Jack. He was at a verbena plant on the deck and flew over to the twinkle light wiring to rest for a bit. I can't tell you how long I sat on that deck waiting for him to arrive. The things one will do for a photo!!

Steve Rice from Olympia, United States

What a little ripper!

@Steve Rice: Very cute and very fast!

Laurie from New Jersey, United States

Woah! I never saw one perched like that. Sweet!

6 Jul 2009 6:14pm

@Laurie: I've seen them perch on the phone lines in our yard, too. Yep, we still have phone, cable and electric lines above ground in this old neighborhood! :)

Graham Russon from Cape Town, South Africa

Great title and shot, nice one.

@Graham Russon: Thanks, Graham. It's all about patience with these little guys.

Ronnie 2¢ from Atlantic Shores, United Kingdom

Such a beautiful little creature and I love how the green is reflected in your image here . . one with the world around him !

6 Jul 2009 7:16pm

@Ronnie 2¢: Thanks, Ronnie. I was very happy to finally get a decent shot of this bird!

Colleen from Canada

Wow! Great catch!

6 Jul 2009 7:22pm

@Colleen: Thanks, Colleen. You'd laugh if you knew how long I sat still on my deck, waiting for this cutie to return to the potted plants. I spotted him from the kitchen window and ran to get my camera. Snuck outside and waited and waited and waited for his return. In my bathrobe, nonetheless! I sat waiting for well over 20 minutes, camera set and ready to shoot when he came back. It took a lot of patience. :)

Judy from Brooksville, Florida, United States

That's a wonderful capture ........ we don't see them here in our part of Florida. :(

6 Jul 2009 7:59pm

@Judy: I'm surprised. I guess I thought they were all over the U.S.

@B. Thomas: Thanks, B. See my note to Colleen. It took a lot of patience to get this little guy. They're quite shy around here.
