grouser from Ludlow, United Kingdom

A certain ambiguity to the name methinks. I'm certainly in no hurry to get there.

17 Jun 2009 10:07am

@grouser: Neither am I! Pleasant Dale is actually the name of the town: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pleasant_Dale,_Nebraska

jeff (aka dogilicious) from Millerstown, PA, United States

I agree with grouser. You can name it all kinds of "pleasant" but I think I'll work harder not to get there.

17 Jun 2009 11:59am

@jeff (aka dogilicious): It might be a play one words with regards to the cemetery, but it's actually the name of the town. I'm in no rush, either. That's why I was driving my MiniCooper and not riding on the back of the motorcycle! ;)

Laurie from New Jersey, United States

Cemetery gates and their names make interesting subjects.

17 Jun 2009 3:41pm

@Laurie: I never noticed the lack of gates. But then the rest of the cemetery is wide open (unfenced), so I guess there's really no reason to need them.

Ronnie 2¢ from London, United Kingdom

I'm struck by the idea of a gateway without any gates . . many places in England ended up like this after gates were taken for their metal during WW2 . . never to be replaced.

@Ronnie 2¢: See my note to Laurie, Ronnie. I suspect since this is such a small cemetery (and a very small town), there's no need to gate/fence it in.

Steve Rice from Olympia, United States

An old one. Nice shot.

17 Jun 2009 9:57pm

@Steve Rice: I wonder just how old it is. Didn't feel comfortable wandering around on that weekend, as there were several families paying their respects. I even felt a bit intrusive taking what photos I did.

Anthony Morgan Lambert from Bielefeld(old Pembroke Dock boy,Wales), Germany

A horrible and "corny" name I have to say but it makes for a great frame for this scene !!

18 Jun 2009 3:57pm

@Anthony Morgan Lambert: Yes it is, but it's actually the name of the town. :)

Denise from Duncannon, United States

Pleasant for those who visit their loved ones. Persoanlly I want to be in a wooded area or perhaps on top of a mountain, where my loved ones can enjoy the landscape:)

19 Jun 2009 2:03am

@Denise: I'm with you. I either want my ashes scattered in a wooded area or across the waters of the San Juan Islands. Or Italy if I never make it there in this life. ;)
