Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.

Wonderful quote. Marvelous light and shadow!

@john4jack: Isn't that a cool quote, Jack? Glad you like the photo.

Alun Lambert from cheshire, United Kingdom

very nice shadows

@Alun Lambert: Thanks, Alun. It's always nice to see the sun shining in the middle of winter!

MontereyJohn from Salinas, California, United States

Yet more proof that the ordinary is not mundane! Excellent!

@MontereyJohn: Thanks, John. We've lived in a variety of homes, both old and new, and we'd pick an old house with character any day! The woodwork and fixtures were a big attraction, as was the front porch and tree-lined street.

Lorraine from Gatineau, Canada

Love the door and gorgeous warm light, not to mention that twinkle doorknow ;)

@Lorraine: Gotta love these old houses. It's funny, but that's the only door with the glass knob. All the others are old-fashioned, but not glass. It's on a tiny bedroom closet.

Steve Rice from Olympia, United States

A nice play of light and shadow. I like that old door knob.

8 Feb 2009 8:58pm

@Steve Rice: Thanks, Steve. Our old house has some nice features such as the door knobs, doors, and windows (and sloping floors and cracked plaster!).

Bookfool from Mississippi, United States

Geez, you have some nice details in that house. The doorknob is gorgeous. Hope you feel better, soon!

8 Feb 2009 11:55pm

@Bookfool: Thanks, Nancy. It's a fairly old house. Built in the 30s, so there's lots of nice woodwork and hardware.

I'm feeling better today, but am home trying to regain some strength. That bug really zapped me for a couple of days. Thank goodness it only lasts 24-48 hours and not a couple of weeks! Ugh.
