Lorraine from Gatineau, Canada

Impressive and solid (I hope) ;)

5 Dec 2008 9:09am

@Lorraine: I hope so, too. We drive across this a few times during the week we're out there visiting my folks!

k@ from Paris, France

Like that bridge a lot, and the Dickinson's quote too - thanks*

5 Dec 2008 10:36am

@k@: I think it's an attractive bridge, too. Glad you enjoyed the quote.

grouser from Ludlow, United Kingdom

Well cropped
It looks enormous

5 Dec 2008 11:26am

@grouser: It's fairly large. I'll post a full shoot later next week so you can see the span.

Nina from Hamburg, Germany

A fabulous angle and really good captured against the blue sky!

5 Dec 2008 11:42am

@Nina: Thanks, Nina!

Anita from Quito, Ecuador

Amazing! Great perspective! The clear blue sky makes it come out very strong! Nice work!

5 Dec 2008 3:12pm

@Anita: Thanks a lot, Anita. I tried playing with the color of the sky, but decided to stick with the original. While I enjoy other photographers' processing, I prefer to stick with the original image for mine.

Alun Lambert from cheshire, United Kingdom

lovely shot, very nice angles

5 Dec 2008 4:50pm

@Alun Lambert: Thanks, Alun. It was a rare warm day in Newport and I enjoyed being out shooting some pics while my hubby lusted after boats.

jamesy from christchurch, New Zealand

beautiful photo and perfect quote Les

5 Dec 2008 6:56pm

@jamesy: Thanks, Debbie. It was a lovely day. Almost hot, which is unusual for that area in September. My husband was lusting after boats, so I amused myself by taking photos.

MontereyJohn from Salinas, California, United States

Beautifully composed and exposed. Well done.

5 Dec 2008 7:09pm

@MontereyJohn: Thank you, John. And thanks for adding me to your blog-watch. Much appreciated. Hope you enjoy my photos.

Josh from Pasadena, United States

nice Les, a grand perspective! On shots with a lot of sky like this I like to boost the contrast or saturation to get a really vibrant blue sky, I would be interested to see how something like that would look here. Very well done though!

5 Dec 2008 7:29pm

@Josh: Thanks, Josh! I considered your suggestion and went back and played around with the sky. I think it helps, but I guess I'm a throwback and prefer to keep my photos unprocessed. Well, with the exception of cropping. Guess I'm not a purist in the truest sense. And I'm certainly not making a criticism of those who choose to process. It's just not my thing.

Linerberry from Sumner, Christchurch, New Zealand

6 Dec 2008 5:52am

@Linerberry: Thanks, Liners. And your welcome for your thank you for my thank you. ;)

JJ from Jersey City, United States

such an interesting bridge love the close in shot showing the detail

6 Dec 2008 3:50pm

@JJ: I wish I had taken a walk out on it. I keep thinking of all the great angles I could've captured. Next time!

Bookfool from Vicksburg, United States

Wow, that's a pretty impressive-looking structure. I'm sure my engineer would love it, but he's shopping.

6 Dec 2008 7:26pm

@Bookfool: I love bridges. Don't see too many around here, other than the ugly ones that cross over the interstate.

melodia from ffm, Germany

8 Dec 2008 11:39am

@melodia: Thanks, Melodia!
