Wow! The sky is on fire! Simply beautiful, Les. :)

@bisha: Thank you, Nat. This is one of my favorites from that trip. I plan to mat & frame a print and hang it in my office so I can take a mental holiday every now and then.

bm from Budapest, Hungary

this is just stunning - must've been amazing to actually be there. very well captured.

26 Oct 2008 8:41am

@bm: Thanks! It was absolutely amazing to witness. I was sitting out on a dock, waiting for a couple of eagles that I'd seen fishing the previous morning when I was treated to this spectacular sunrise. It was probably one the most beautiful mornings of my life. The air was cool and still. It was quite peaceful, with only a few other people messing about on their boats. I was so moved by the beauty in the sky, it almost made me weep.

Lorraine from Gatineau, Canada

WOW indeed the sky is on fire, was there an explosion, Oh magnificent!!! oh and the reflection, heaven!

26 Oct 2008 9:56am

@Lorraine: It was one of the most stunning sunrises I've ever witnessed, Lorraine. It just kept getting better with every second. I was beyond amazed.

JJ from Jersey City, United States

I agree with previous comments, the sky looks like it is on fire, a truly beautiful capture, i can understand why you would want to frame it

26 Oct 2008 2:24pm

@JJ: Thank you! Would you believe it was actually more beautiful in person? Almost a religious experience.

Jeff from Pembroke Dock, United Kingdom

Theres a saying over here Les,red sky in morning shepherds warning, red sky at night shepherds delight...With a sunrise like this I would be expecting a big storm...Fantastic shot you've got to frame it.

26 Oct 2008 4:04pm

@Jeff: Hey, Jeff. We've got a similar adage over here:

“Red sky at night, sailor’s delight. Red sky in morning, sailor’s warning."

I especially like this one since my husband and I both love boating.

Thanks for the nice comment.!

Veronelle from Lens, France

@dogilicious: Thanks! It's definitely at the top of my list of locations to consider when it comes to retirement. I'd even be willing to get up for every sunrise!

Eric Fry from Houston, TX, United States

I would definitely be up to see every sunrise at this place! The colors here and in your "Summer Night" photo are incredible, and your composition is excellent. You have a wonderfully varied portfolio with very well composed photos. Thanks for stopping by my page, I don't get a chance to check out the community page as often as I would like, and I'm very glad to get a chance to see your work and add you to my Blogwatch!

@Lee: Yep. I know I'll never forget that morning. Between the sunrise and the eagles flying over, it was an incredible morning. Wish I were there now!
